a wee sand of the pipe and the tappered washer will go in a bit more if you cant get the adaptor

No the push fit stuff is different again from what I can see and I definitely don't want it under a floor I can't ever reach again, that's why I want solvent weld pipe as much as possible as once it's in place it won't move much.

You are missing a section that comes with the trap , it is a piece with a approx 45 degree angle , it threads straight onto the trap and leaves you with a compression nut that 40mm solvent weld will fit into .

I don’t know why they make them that way , but they do .
