So I'm buying my first house soon and it already has a single garage with potential to put a double there and I was looking for a bit of inspiration really.

I think it would be nice to either show off or share any storage ideas or machine floor layouts etc with others on here.

So, show us your Workspace......

The best advice I can give is:

No matter how big you build it, it won't be big enough, one of the most important aspects that regularly gets overlooked is height.

If space is at a premium, build a dynamic workshop by mounting everything that can be on wheels.

in my younger days, i had a 3 car garage....i could hardly get in there due to "stuff", when i had to move out i had to dispose of 3 tea chest full of just nuts and bolts.
the moral being, having more space dont mean you will have more space, just you can collect even more "stuff".

I tried to do a search and didn't find such a thread. I found one for clever storage ideas etc.

Photobucket . I help out on a golf forum which has no on site storage photobucket has made a right mess of it.

Its all the odd stuff that causes the problem, I am trying to get the workshop to be just as a machine shop with all the bits like chainsaws, hedge trimmers, roof bars, step ladders, painting and decorating bits somewhere else.
Already have a shed full of mowers and stuff, one for welding and one just for electronics. You can never have to much space.

Couldn't agree more, I've got two shelves I can only reach standing on my benches, it means everything is out of the way, while still easily seen and accessed.

Screw as much as you can to the walls, floor space is precious.

I cannot agree more i have used as much height as possible for long term storage to free up space i need all the time, and using plastic boxes like they use for shops to move stock around has saved me plenty of space. Always label the boxes or you will never see things for years

When you look at the foot print of your shed or garage it always looks big until you try and use it, Luckily i have great neighbours and when i said about extending my garage and putting a tiled roof on to create roof storage they were all for it, The problem is the more space you have the more you use...

Slightly random, but I've briefly been in that workshop. I sold you a baliegh shear a few months back.
