No, an additional earth rod in the shed/garage could actually be more dangerous as an earth fault current could be "exported" to your earth rod along undersized earth cable.
There is only space for 2 mcb's in the CU, 1 is 6A type B for the lighting so it only leaves 1 for both the 16a and 13a sockets.
Actually the MCB to the sockets is a 32A type C, not 60A as I don't know why said earlier

It's a 4 way CU in the first pic, what are the other 2 ways used for?

They should be operated/connected together - double pole isolator

look at the data plate on the welders it will tell u the input amperage required

Ask at your local fire station, they normally have a depot near by that could fix you up...
I would say next or close to where you are working. If you are going to have a fire, it's generally within about 1-4 meters of whatever you are doing, either from welding sparks close to you or from the grinder sparks which will be further away.
If you put it at the door and your welding or grinding too far inside, by the time you notice you may not be able to get to it if a fire starts between you and the extinguisher. Ideally get a couple strategically placed around the shed, even if they are small units, a small fire extinguisher is still better than no fire extinguisher, but keep one of them near to you. I keep a 2.5kg one right on my welding bench and I generally work within 2m from the entrance.

I was always told to keep it by the door, as if its close to your work area you may find yourself setting fire to something between you and it.

Well my new workshop is nearly done, I chose to run 2x2 galv box trunking round the edges, and drop cable from that. The existing supply comes in by the door (see the dinky little wylex board) but will be changed for a SWA when we re-arrange the garden. I'm thinking ATM a 10mm SWA will suffice for my needs, but might upgrade it to a 16mm..
Anyways, the new board is a nice metal Contactum board, with most circuits having their own MCB. I decided to add a 32A socket also for future use. As you can see, half the workshop is given over to storage racking, and the other half will have enough space to get my Discovery in to work on it! The blue tool cabinet on the table slots in & out of the back of the disco using the red pallet stacker
Electrics are pretty much all done now, just finishing the alarm and data stuff (inc CCTV), so should have it all complete and tidy by the weekend!
I added some lights in the attic, also some sockets up there for some motor hoists that will drop down the small holes in the roof. I'm waiting on my builder to return to install my windows and add loft hatches, and fix the main roller shutter, as the builders incompetent guys screwed it up royally (ripped the cable out the motor, and didn't seal the wood they screwed the canopy to, so it's all got to come down!)

Nice looking garage, conduit from trunking to boxes would give better protection to the cables.
Yep, it was a cost/benefit thing sadly, but I might re-visit it at a later date and drop some 25mm conduit from the trunking down. The two Ceeforms by the board I'm going to put conduit on in order to bring them up a breezeblock in height to match the rest.
