Sorry winchman what are so rare and expensive record 112?

Getting them cheap is the difficult bit, they are over £700 new and any one who comes across one googles it and asks a fortune, whilst I do like them I don't feel they are any better than my old Fortis?
Shall I get my tin hat?

These are the bits. They seem slightly smaller than the ones on the 112, but you should be able to get them working with it?

Havent a clue, but I did see one at a car show It was near £500 I think! I bet he still has it next year!
As much as I like any vice there comes a limit to what you can or should pay for one.
The Chinese one I bought for £2 at a car boot served me well for a few years until I got the Fortis, sold it for £4 at the Autojumble bloke was delighted as it had a swivel base!

Picked this up at auction, might take the baby vice of and sell that on,what value would you rate it? keeping the stand maybe put my swindens on... has the STANLEY name impressed on the stand,folds up perfect for storage.

Strange, when you zoom in on the picture it looks like RECORD stamped into the shelf of the stand. Looks like a record stand too.

Had a whole heap of stuff to take to uni, so I decided that the front jaw of my Record 52 wasn't that heavy and I may as well take it along too. It'd been repainted twice so there were three layers of paint on there. Uni has a sandblaster, not sure you're supposed to put non-uni things in but I did and nobody saw me so that's good. Gave it a quick wire brush on the sliders too. I've since put it into primer. Pretty, don't you think?

Next up, the 53A front... slightly larger! I think I'll do all the parts in bits. Saves slaving away at home making a mess.

No idea, some sort of pink sand, now bolstered with particles of lead paint I would imagine

You have a record pipe stand, I have a Record Pipe vice to fit.

On your pipe stand you have a vice.

Swop the to vices?

As I got her home, the white/yellow stuff was some form of resin and saw dust. It was solid.
The vice opened and all parts worked.
No idea what the grease they used was. But the wire brush I used to clean her made it smell like dripping.



After boing her up in hot washing powder, all the crud has gone.




In paint. The frame was from old wood. It was stable enough to allow me to drive home and not fall over.


B&Q smooth metal paint, close enough for me to like it. Yes. it is not Record blue, but I don't care.





There she is, all done.

I am pleased with the results after a few days lazy work.
