its a dog vice, so really not designed to hold thin pieces in the end, more for long flat pieces along the length of the bench.

The jaws do close fully against each other and I use that functionality quite often, but there's a gap on the edge of the bench when still closed. Just how it was made I guess, the bench is quite a bit older than me. i have plans to build a cabinet under it for more storage. I hardly every use the front vise though, the front face is so wobbly because it's supported only one one ball/socket-joint. I suppose if I want to dovetail some wider stock it'd be handy.

Bought a bunch 2x2 square tubing last night, so now I am set to build a vise.

Picked up a rusty blacksmiths vice for a fiver a little while back


All cleaned up now but still have to make the bracket and spring when I get around to it. Has 6 1/2" wide jaws.

There hasn't been a posting here for several weeks , so I figured I'd try to do something about it.
I struggled during the last seconds not to push the "confirm bid", but failed , and won a vice on Ebay. It should arrive later this week.

I have a 6" Milling vice which I purchased from G&M awhile back, but I've always wanted a small high quality machine vice, and now I've found one. This 3" Abwood poped up on ebay, so I put it on my watch list to see if it would go for stupid money, there were no bids in the last 30 seconds, so I thought I'd take a punt; glad I did. Got it for a little less than the price of an import, but definitely a better bargain. Even though I like green, I don't think I'll paint it, as its a nice turquoise colour, which is close enough; for the moment. I didn't know Abwood made a 3" Machine vice, but I would recommend looking for one of these if you need a vice for a smaller Milling machine.

Its in great condition, hasn't been abused, and no drill or milling damage present.
Just wish my camera had better resolution, but I ain't complaining.

Saw this today, biggest vice I have ever seen, it's a Woden 100/2. Not sure of its original use, weather it would be a machine vice or a floor standing vice.
