BTW Matt the old style Parkinson No 8 is safely stowed in a mates workshop now till it finds it's way back to me

Can anybody ID this vice? The jaws are roughly 5 1/2" wide.



I can't find any writing on it though it could be hidden by layers of paint & dirt. It's in a local auction and it might go cheap - they all seem to only want record vices!

It looks a bit like a parkinson or a samsonia but I'm sure the vice experts will be along soon.

Interested in the answer to as I have a very similar one with no name on it that is waiting at a mates place for me to eventually collect.

I was assuming that perhaps one of the major manufacturers made a vice for someone else to badge perhaps? Or could they be war time production?

Possibly a Paramo but most likely an unmarked Parkinsons.

Quite a price tag attached to it .....

I like all this vice stuff, really interesting, I did add a pic of mine but nobody commented so geussing its not a collectable or what ever the correct phrase would be, also nice to see some benches are as "used" untidy(no dis respect meant) as mine, honestly it does get cleared sometimes, hope to make real effort to have a de clutter this year, you know how it goes when really busy things tend to get fixed/done straight onto next thing without time to clear up.
I do have a big old vice came with a bundle of stuff, will add pics later this year when I un earth it..cheers Arther

You have some likes on that post. It's mainly easier to do it that way, rather than commenting individually on each one. Doesn't mean it isn't noticed or appreciated.

I always prefer to see a used workbench over a showpiece myself. Never trust anyone who has a tidy bench is my motto.

Hopefully I have managed to attatch pict of a vice, its about 55/60 years old, as my father bought it and now I use it, yes bench needs cleaning..been a bit busy but thats no excuse really. ArtherView attachment 80875

Yup ,thats the post, nice some liked it just wondered as you guys know whats what where as to me its a working tool, pretty much like myself (ye humour) is there any specifics any one could tell me about manufacture etc .
I came to the same conclusion also re some ones work shop /bench, if its to clean they obviously have nt got much work in....so why would that be, where as a few I know who are brilliant workers/craftsmen nine times out of ten shops are cluttered beyond belief !as they are inundated with work. its not a 100% rule just depends what work is being done really, anyways yes looking for one of those rotating vices at the auctions I go to from now on. keep up the good work.
