I'm in the same boat as you, too many. Am slowly in the process of choosing based on versatility. Keeping the woodworking vice with the largest opening, as it can do double duty for metal if needed; and keeping the Record Auto Vice, as it just fits that sweet spot for a home hobby shop. Not sure about the others yet, but they don't eat or cost me anything to keep at the moment.I have just been going through my vices as there is limited space at the new place (if we ever get there!) and I have 4 metalwork, 2 woodwork and 4 machine vices...... not many compared to some but how many does one need?
Thinking of getting rid of some but just cannot choose who to lose! Probably take them all and see what makes sense when I get it all sorted.

although I cannot remember where I got it from. It has a bench screw feature on the base for temporary installation and 4 holes to screw it down permanently.Just removed and packing this one away. A P&B Made in England woodworking vice. It has seen a lot of use over the last 40 odd years in my possession

I agree entirely, I hate seeing so called restorations where a rotary wire brush has erased all the history from something. It's taken years to look the way it does and will only look that way once.Another addition to the fleet. A Fortis No10.
I've always really liked this shape, it's somehow organic if you know what I mean. One thing I have always wondered is did this shape come out before the more squared shaped Fortis or were they introduced later ? Also seems odd Fortis would have two steel designs? If anybody knows about all this please do tell.
This had a lot of blue paint on when I got it from a previous dodgy repaint. I didn't want to re-paint it so i'm slowly using a brass brush & a pick to expose what's left of the original green - slow going & I know some will think i'm crackers for bothering but it's quite fun. I like patina
