Never knew there was so much to an anvil till I read this thread so acquired this suspension tester the other day in an effort to join the club.

It's exactly the same as mine, as well: I swapped mine for a bottle of (good) whiskey. I got a "tinkers anvil" with it as well though.

They are an amazingly useful tool for any metalworking workshop. Yours looks like it has some age to it but no major damage, should clean up nicely. I would be interested to see what the rebound might be like and if there is little/no damage, should still be really good.
Opens up a whole new world of opportunity for that specific type of metal bashing. Always puts me in a good mood just using one.

Certainly not "common as muck" - but less rare than other types, maybe.
And your "generous offer" might have been less than I paid: It was a *VERY* good bottle of whiskey.

It should clean up nicely as 500e mentioned,
and I see currently there are a few of these tiny novelties on the bay of evil; ranging in outrageous prices from £44. > £95. pounds. 
I've had one for a long time, and and although a bit of fun, its crudely made and not really worth the price of postage. Just a heads up for anyone thinking they are something special and spending their hard earned money on one.
