Orkney. You can sent stuff round the U.K. for sub £100. Try and get it to highlands or islands and it doubles. On a good day.

Awh it’s only 330 miles lol. Yeah it’ll be atleast double then. Well if u ar coming down this way we can talk about it

It's not too bad, a few angle grinder marks, quite a bit of sway, and pretty poor rebound but hey ho - near enough for me!

To get an accurate sense for the rebound, it needs to be a fair bit cleaner on top. Dirt, rust, oils or paint will deaden the rebound if you're testing it with a ball bearing. Needs to be a decent size bearing too, 1/2 inch plus...

Fair enough, they do vary and lose rebound over time, especially if they begin to sway. Still a cracking tool to have in the workshop.

My first anvil, a birthday gift from my parents, still have it, not a clean edge on it, chips, dings and a bit of sway, but it still churns out work I'm happy with. 250lbs of old double bicked loveliness.

And the new one, much bigger at 390lbs, much cleaner edges and top, some odd wear on the heel but a lovely tool to have.

Here’s my selection,the spanner gets a pipe slipped over for turning the ex universal column over,the missing corner was done for return bends making clevis’ etc.Its 240kg!
The 2” plate next to it,was gifted to me in return for welding a wheel stud into a cast drum.
The long universal column,on legs,was bought for £2 at a sale,30 years ago,being youthful then,I carried it all the way to my trailer .The small one was had for £45 at a farm sale 34 years ago.
The large one doesn’t have a soft table,was obtained from a scrap yard in as new condition 28 years ago,£70.

There is something really comforting about having a really heavy solid surface to play on. Those sorts of object exude an air of longevity and solidity even at a distace (even from here!) but I still can't resist running my hands over stuff like that, just to feel all that reassuring mass.

Here is my big one, just today relocated it to somewhere I can use it instead of under the press, may need to do a bit of work on the flue, the leanto was made from 100% recycled materials, polycarbonate was an old swiming pool roof, timber was from the roof of a bungalow a few doors up the road, had a loft conversion, the gutter was found in a skip, noticed it when on my way to Wicks to buy.............. a length of gutter
