Employers have no legal obligation to ensure suitable working temperatures. However, they do have a duty of care over their employees, so must provide a safe environment where staff are not at risk of falling ill from the heat.At least the humidity is good.Ironically although there's a minimum temperature requirement in the factories act, there isn't for the maximum (or at least wasn't)
Reached 14 degrees here today...........![]()
My very last job in Qatar was 45C at one point. Wearing full PPE and harness for climbing. But when the humidity went to 100% RH the Black flag went up and everyone inside. Sacking offence not to be carrying a water bottle. Over in Dubai, animals in the zoo didn't have that option. One of the most disgraceful places I've ever seen and surrounded by nauseating oppulence..Employers have no legal obligation to ensure suitable working temperatures. However, they do have a duty of care over their employees, so must provide a safe environment where staff are not at risk of falling ill from the heat.
The official guidance reads: “In offices or similar environments, the temperature in workplaces must be reasonable.
The TUC have previously battled to make it illegal to keep people at work indoors if the temperature is above 30C and put protection in place for people working outside or driving for a living.
27 degress for hard labour work
They also want to ensure outdoor workers have sunscreen and water and are given advice on the need to protect themselves from the heat and sun.
tuc reference is 24 degrees and note if any employees are uncomfortable
you can cool your warehouse down rather well if you use water using a evap systemMy warehouse is freezing in Winter and gets too hot in summer. Mind you I only turned our AGA off last week - was 6C here again last night.
Warehouse was 22C a few days ago - nearly passed out
Hottest I have seen it is 40C. Not much we can do - roof is about 12m high.
The warehouse next door has the big mushrooms on the roof. Idiots blocked them off when repairing the roof.actually we can go back to free again fizzy
we used to have these on roofs that have been done away with for flat steel roofs

we can go back to them by using a blow through method and doors to close ( insulated doors )
this will create a negative pressure in the building whilst can be insulated in winter
Will be lighting the fire in the morning......As you were, 15 degrees and raining...... shed back to comfortable levels until next year![]()
We're not geared up for extremes in temperatures. Slate roof absorbs heat like crazy. But painting it with reflective paint would have the planning on me, plus would look wrong somehow?in fizzys case he wont want to move it and same with many factories
all they need is a dual shutter with 2 sides with evap units and open the outer shutter
you can also cool the air even more by using a second evap unit if tubes are used down the factory
