In a garage technicallyive an enclosed car port ,,,, where do I stand ,,, well under cover I guess.
I have thought for some time that the council tax needs a review, my house 2450 a year with a house value of approx 300k, million pound house down the road 5k a year, council tax and then you get much more expensive properties still paying the 5k as that is the highest band they do.
I can see current govt seeing this as a great way to get more tax income, and of course outbuildings will come into this somehow!
In essence, if an outbuilding on your property is deemed to have the features of a self-contained dwelling such as living space, kitchen, and bathroom it can be assigned its own council tax band, resulting in a separate bill. This reclassification has left many homeowners feeling blindsided, especially when applied to structures they consider non-residentiall
Size of the house or how many sheds shouldn’t dictate the amount of council tax is due. The amount of resources that household users should be the deciding factor i.e. many houses around here extended to the max with brothers, sisters, spouses and kids living under one roof using many more resources than their neighbour with just husband and wife.
Shed users tend to be retired….and they cant tax the working man. So where does that leave a working girl with a shed.I don't understand, they promote 'men in sheds' saying it can help male mental health, then they decide they may tax sheds. That should help their paranoia!
