At least I'm not going mad and I did hear this shed tax carp.. I now have a summer house and a storage shed, everything else is a garage, I wonder how many.people will be having old 7.5 ton truck box containers on wheels up the garden now 
and I bet bunkers will be on the increase

Well they did "window tax" in about 1700 - you had poll tax riots in the 1990's - now talk of shed tax...
If you read it - the detail of the proposal - it is not a shed tax....
It is a granny annexe tax...
Which is worse, in my mind....
You turn you garage into a granny annexe - to house your Mother/Father on your inlaws - to ensure they get and eat three meals a day - when they can't manage living home/alone in there own house and it doubles your council tax bill.
Two full rates bills for two separate self contained dwellings on the same plot - plus don't let them do it - in time they will want to claim stamp duty twice when you sell the "two dwellings"....
