Not sure its just about how hard it is ,to be uniform ,quicker the better, with a mixer will still be hard ,it would be a hard slog just to barrow from a readymix and float it yourself ,get some mates with wheelbarrows
Was planing on shuttering the sections off, do it in the four sections. Also need to shutter the outer side to stop it spewing out. I will do that though when its all in place and ready to go.
Will be two of us on it, got buckets for easy measuring.
Just need some time off to get to it now. Got Tuesday off so will be able to finnish off the supports and rear pannels, should be able to remove the rear of the old shed ready to be moved and start on the ground work. Hoping I get a couple of days next week now.
keep at least 1 shovel for dry ingredients .makes life easier ,i found a water butt quicker and easier than a hose,,you'll need a rake and something to tamp and level with,we floated the top for a smoother finish when almost dry .....good luck mate
in fairness i'm a welding/fitting bodger ,but have just finished building a garage so it still fresh ,(still ache)...electric mixer on a stand would be easiest or ready mix ,didn't have a stand on my mixer ,easier to load but had to dump on spot board and shovel to barrow etc how much more expensive is ready mix to matl+mixer?
I carnt get a wagon near to do the readymix thing, carnt get enough hands for help or enough wheel barrows. Saves reliying on hoping people may help ill do it myself. With doing it in sections atleast I can stop if needed.
I would lend you my mixer but i passed it on to a mate ,had 2 off freecycle ,one 240v and a huge petrol i gave that to a mate as well ,think my neighbours would have had kittens with the engine exhaust note ...try trade-it and freecycle ,80-100 for 2nd hand belle.....also got a wheel barrow off freecycle ...needed welding
With work now taking up so much of my time I got to try and stay local, Gumtree. ebay, Freeadds will do the trick.
Was a nice one on Trade it for £40 in Bristol. There is one near me working but sliping belt for £45, just waiting for a phone number so I can ask more, belt should be a quick fix. Dont want to pay more than about £80 max and my Brother will go halfs as he will want it after me.
You will definitely need 6 inches of concrete thickness....considering that you are using it for work...and from time to time, any kind of job will be needed.
The mix needs to be rich in cement,(you will drop spanners, hammers etc) you wouldn't want to break the surface....
Underneath the concrete, place metal mesh used for roofing...it's what I did to mine....no regrets
