semi electrical question

how do you guys push a cable down a 100m conduit ?

l have been busy installing cctv , lights and alarms around my place it all worked so well l thought l would expand and have cameras away from the main building looking back at it, found some cheap water and gas pipe on ebay 25mm bore and buried this under ground running to each point where l am fitting a camera/sensor simples no problems, now how do l get the cables in ??
there are no joints so each one is just less than 100m long, to far to push coax me thinks ?

i tried training a mouse but the little ba$tard ate so much cheese he got stuck half way down
so l was thinking of making a nylon plug or bullet and using compressed air to propel it along dragging a small cord ??

any better ideas ???

Wee mouse and sook it with a hoover and/or push it with a compressor. Drag a fine line in first and use that to pull in something a bit more substantial then use that to pull cable(s) through.

Edit: by mouse I mean a little bit of rag tied to catgut or thin twine.

Dont try and push it down, thin string, tied around a polythene bag stuff it in the tube at one end and make sure its a canny fit, get a powerfull vacumm cleaner, semi seal the other end up with tape,push the suction tube through the seal you just made and down into the the duct pipe, turn on vacumm and hey presto, polythene bag and string will be there in seconds. a nice new ball of untangled string or someone helping it feed in at the other end is a must, never fails.

unless your a curtain wire salesman your going to struggle to find 100m of it in the kitchen draw, but l know what you mean it would work if l had it, even thought about send mig wire down straight out the gun lol, bit of a waste though

Pull a spare piece of string through at the same time - you may want to add more cable later.

Yes as above, Fishing line, few hundred metres long a lot less than a tenner.

Longest fishtape I have is 50m and that can be a struggle after about 30m.
Unless your using subterranean cable (jelly filled) I would seal the ends of your conduit as well otherwise your cable will be immersed in water and fail over time.

As WS says most cables are not designed to be soaked continuously, bring ends of pipe above ground & seal.
CoAx is really bad for water if the damp gets in braid it corrodes to nothing.
BS the add does say any length hooks free?

l have a 30m fish tape but its a struggle and its only going to reach a third of the way,, l will try the vacuum or compressed air or maybe both !

I would say it would have to be rope over that length as the friction caused getting to half way and past would snap string and curtain wire would stretch another 100 mtrs
