Driving home this late afternoon 23 09 2025 we got caught in the Swansea Rush hour ( well that's what the locals call it ) coming from Mumbles and onto Crockett Lane still in the 30 mph zone when suddenly the two cars in front of me slowed to an almost abrupt stop then swerved to the left and b* ggered off .
In front of me was a motorcyclist still sliding up the hill . His heavy bike 30 yards away down the hill and a lady getting out of her car at a slightly staggered minor cross roads her side road up the hill . She'd seen a break in the almost nose to tail traffic and chanced dashing across the staggered junction hitting the motorcyclist in the front wheel , faring & handle bar area with the dead centre of her hire car.
I find it sickeningly selfish that the two drivers in front of me didn't stop to render assistance nor did any of the cars on the other side of the road they just turned left at the side road.
I stopped 12m back , put my four ways on , got out and opened my boot took out my incontinence rucksack gear as there is also a lot of useful stuff that can be used to render first aid and one of my crutches . Telling my passengers to phone in to the Police and Ambulance service via 999 a serious road traffic incident with badly injured person in the road .
I hobbled down to the poor guy when suddenly a crowd of gorpers & Richard craniums appeared fumbling for their phone camera's . By now my son in law had grabbed my high viz vest and put it over my shoulders as I knelt with difficulty by the badly injured guy . Suddenly a fat woman came out of her gate and said , " Come on you I'm going to move your arms and legs to see if you can get up as you causing a traffic jam " ... Callous , ignorant, F'kin Cow.
Told her in firm military command terms she was to, "Leave the guy alone and leave things to me" .
.
I saw his eyes flickering , asked him if he could hear me and when he said yes told him I was here to help him till the ambulance arrived , got him to move his fingers by himself notice a well broken left had and a sluggish right hand . , asked him if he could feel his legs ,,he said he thought so . Then I asked him if he could move his arms by himself , left arm hurting but he cried out in tremendous pain when he tried to move his right arm which was under him at a funny angle .
Fat cow then says " I'll take his helmet off so he can breth better " she'd started to loosen his chinstrap when I stopped her telling her , " If he got a fractured skull you'll either kill or paralyse him , B*gger off please. " ... She did .
I asked him if he could roll slightly on to his hurting shoulder and roll his head as well so I could place part of my rucksack under his helmet to support his neck as best as possible . This done suddenly a gal in light blue hospital scrubs came running from a car ten or so cars back down the side road .
A quick. I'm an A&E off dty duty doctor just come off shift . Jus then the ambulance service said there is a four hour wait for an ambulance . The doc grabbed son in laws phone and told them in no uncertain terms who she was and that this was a life and death emergence at the scene of a road traffic incidence . . I heard the reply , " An ambulance has been sent to your location , police and other emergency crews have been scrambled too .They all arrived almost in convoy 22 minutes later as the traffic build up had almost paralysed the area
Mean while I filled the doctor in with my observations and what I'd done when I noticed a strange light brown liquid running from underneath his body down the hill .Asked him if he was OK still and his reply of yes made me realise he smashed a flask of coffee in his ruck sack which he was half laid on . Pointed this out to the Doc who said thanks for what I'd already done as it was the best thing possible especially saying about the ruck sack under his back which , she , being down hill of him could not readily see.
Got several new bystanders to move the motorcycle off the road to the verge by a tree and sent some to houses adjacent for brooms , shovels and bin bag etc. so we could sweep up the sharp stuff etc ready for the emergency teams to have a safe clear entry & exit .
The ambulance beat the paramedics & the police A&E Doc said to the lad ," We have to cut your leathers off you so we can get a drip into you and work out a way to give you oxygen with your helmet on . Poor sod he pleaded with them not to cut his leathers or boots off as they cost more than his bike .. they were kangaroo leathers and boots & gloves .
Doc said to me , "Without them he would have been very very seriously injured " .
There was one hell of a deep gouge in the back of his helmet on the left side that I could see and the poly carbonate visor shield had also taken a hammering to the left top too .
Doc said look to him , " We either cut them off or risk paralysing you if we don't , we need to do an emergency assessment to you , you might have internal bleeding and damaged your internal organs .. . They started cutting them off . I was asked to remove my ruck sack to give the medic access tso they could get him on a special stretcher , as I was helped up off my knees & to my crutch I noticed the poor sod had gone a nasty purplish blue . I came home a little more shaken than stirred I can tell you .
Getting back & and into the car was hell , two strapping guys had to support me to walking up the hill on one crutch as that part climbed almost 2.5m over 12 m .
Sorry for posting about such a harrowing long event , I needed to get it out my system and down in words just incase it's needed in a few days time .
