I recently hired a 14-yard metal skip from about 10 miles / 0.5hr away and they charged £150 for the dropoff/pickup.
Took the batteries/nice metals in myself, though. I wanted it all weighed out properly.

Last year I got £250 for my old campervan, & £250 for a car.
I've never weighed anything in myself, but I'm told by others who have that as long as you have a decent load to warrant the time & cost of going - it's worth doing.
Not sure where you are exactly, but I think for me it'd probably be the lot in Cross Hands I'd need to go to.

The one in Carmarthen takes chasing up if you take it there. They're part of Airfield metals or whatever it is in Carew.
Never had any trouble with the big one in Pembroke Dock nor Jay's Metals up the other side of Blaenwaun although she's not always the best on price but never had any issue with her. Certainly the most convenient for me.

Used to do a bit with them donkeys years ago, out-of-touch nowadays - but yes, always found them pretty good then

Another classic is offering a good price to take it all but saying it's two loads worth. Will settle up on the second load. They take all the good stuff and forget the rest.
Take the batteries etc in yourself in a couple loads if needs be and let whoever take the rest for whatever price.

simple maths , ask how much for batteries delivered and collected , then make up your mind .

I took a boot of scrap car batteries to a local scrappie a few months back. 7x medium to large batteries and I got £55 cash IIRC.
Do it in a coupe of trips in your car boot. You will get the best rates that way.

Scrapping car batteries
For anyone curious there is a scrap value in dead car batteries. Usually I take em to the local tip where they can recycle them but scrap merchants do the same and pay you. Not much but if you have a few may be worth taking em all at once. I gathered up these from my MBs over the past few years...
