430kg, 30 miles... Two carloads really, just for batts

28p per kilo about 6 weeks ago, so £120, but obviously varies. I took a washing machine in last Friday and only got £3 for it! Picked up a free tenon saw while I was there. Better than dealing with the black-belt jobsworths at the tip.

That is a bit of a trek. Our nearest place that wasn't a one man yard with a rotten transit tipper was about 20miles away and I procrastinated taking in the non ferrous for about 15years I recon. Eventually, a new one opened about 5miles away so finally got around to it. I'm not recommending hanging onto it on the off chance someone nearer starts, more that I empathise with just wanting someone to take it away and not screw you over in the process.

With that amount of car batteries, I'd imagine it will be easily worth the time and money for the trip. Take the lead and copper while you are at it.

For the steel, depending on if it is mixed, light or heavy, probably not worth very much. At one point you could get £500 a ton, but those days are long gone.

When I took my last load of batteries in, had 26 (a couple were lorry batteries) and came to over £300.

Certainly worth while paying the farmer £5 per battery to double my money.

and they will take it away free they wont pay anything probably case you up for future theft while they are there
