Hi Al,Was that in their place near Coppid Beech / Bracknell? Went there for a seminar a few years ago and the site tour was very interesting.
I don't particularly want free samples..but its nice to know it works before you shell out a lot of cash for an 8 inch wheel (to get the outer wheel speed). If you would have mentioned yesterday….((Don’t think they would have let me have free samples but you never know lol!!)

Do they sell from there?Hi Al,
No its Atherstone near Coventry
No sorry mate, it’s a manufacturing plant I just happened to be working in for a couple of days, I thought the history of abrasives picture on the wall was quite appropriate for this post though!Do they sell from there?
The biggest issue I am having is finding a local place with the wheels actually in stock.
Hayley group is a retailer for 3M but none of their outlets have 8 inch x 1/4 in stock.
Problem is I have 130 to do at a time....
Yes mate. I have one of those but it won't touch it.. just makes it worse actually.Did you see my link to a de-burr/chamfer tool from RS that was big enough?
Cheers bud. A 6 inch one might do. I was just going off what Joe Pie said. Bigger circumference harsher removal.I have brought a box full home but they are all 6"
There were a few 8" ones in there so I'll have a look at them tomorrow
Will try amd find number tomorrow. From experience, 3M have a very helpful technical centre in Manchester. I had to call them several times in the back in the 90s (not metalwork related) and they were able to provide chapter and verse on their products. If they can't help you/point you in the right direction, then you're stuffed. A further point, if you tell them about your anticipated volume, they're not averse to handing out free samples for trial purposes, which can save you a packet on buying multiple wrong items.
Good question lol8" grinders normally spin slower than 6" so both sizes should be running about the same speed.
Unless Joe is using an 8" wheel on a 6" grinder?
