Horrible condition, you wouldn't wish for anyone to have it.

Before I knew what it was, my hands became infected. It was a very trying time as the only gloves available to me at the time in the early 80's were latex. I am also latex intolerant now because of the continued use.

When they become aerosolised from high pressure spray or vaporised from heat, it can have serious and dire long term consequences along with problems like contract dermatitis.

This is serious Sh1t, DO NOT fsk about with the risks. I am bullet proof, nothing can touch me, I am Teflon. This year I am dealing with contact dermatitis, it is not funny. It has caused me some serious problems.

Back in 2019 I started to experiment with "eco friendly" cutting lubes and started off using this: https://www.blaser.com/en_GB
The snag with Blaser Swisslube I found (as did everyone else) was it takes the paint off (all the machinery) and is incredibly sticky. Then I tried the ROCOL soluble oil that I do believe @Hood is also using right now but then I discovered a new and water clear water soluble lube that I am using almost exclusively, as soon as I have worked out the logistics I am probably going to start selling this. It does not take paint off, it does not smell, it does not irritate skin and is water clear so easier for me to measure progress.

In the US they used to use a lot of fogging type lubricant (cutting solution) and this has proved to be extremely hazardous. Hench Manufacturing came up with the Fogbuster: https://fogbuster.com/ as used on the Tormach Mills. I have one, the only way it can work is a total loss system and I cough my heart out with it on. The right coolant costs the earth too. Really expensive. It is an expensive ornament.

You really need to think through your coolant application, extraction and management. There could be some very serious long term consequences.

Aye, Rocol V-cut SS is what I now use and find it is very nice. I also have it in the plasma water table and it seems ok in that, certainly no smell or taste when cutting.

Oh I know. The slightest bit of soluble cutting fluid and my hands are tingling and burning. I wear nitrile gloves now whenever working on mill or lathe or rotabroach.

This is what I paid, plus VAT on that however but no carriage. It was on special so I bought a few after I trialled it out.
Add to that it has an excellent mix ratio, 50:1 is what I use but up to 60:1 can be used.

Less than £90 from an engineers supply place nearby for 20 litres. Try buying this: https://www.rocol.com/products/ultracut-550 for less than £90 for 5 litres! AND you don't dilute it

Parm, I'm sure it's not, but bear in mind majority of lathe owners here are hobbiests, and they're not going to go out and install extraction systems in the order of £3000+ so they can turn down some scrap bar stock on their £800 lathe they only use one day a week.

at this point, a used extraction system, which can routed out to fresh air, is going to be 50x better than nothing.

No issues with helping hobbiest s but this one realy isn’t good. It’s not worth the money as filters are utterly rubbish.

with internal discharge your just sucking up the contamination and releasing it as a finer aerosol and making the problem worse.

incorrect LEV can sometimes make things worse.
