Got this car last June. It's a 1990 Saab 900 Turbo. I figured I've posted about this here and there so why not make it a project thread. It's not really in need of much work (knock on wood).
Issues it had when I bought it:
-Key retention unless reverse no longer works (Saab calls it an anti theft feature, I can remove the key with the car running...)
-Various rust issues (photos)
-Probably needs a bunch of new various vacuum hoses (fixed)
-Seller says it ought to need a new rotor and pointed out two belts he thought I should replace (fixed)
-I tried looking at the drive shaft tunnels but they didn't look or feel rusty (wrong).
-Some ground and connection issues with the rear lights (fixed)
-The indicator lever doesn't want to reset on it's own in one direction, seller says a piece is missing but replacements can be bought (just living with it).
-The drivers seat sags at the rear where you sit so you sink down, he passenger seat doesn't do that. I need to fix this because it wasn't good for my back after driving 400km (fixed).
I got another set of rims with studded winter tires, the tires look new and the rims are the saab aeros, looking to be in fine shape too. But I prefer the sunburst rims on the car now.
Some of the rust, also the rust protection is getting old and starting to flake. I will work on removing the old protection and replacing it with raw linseed oil. The car is only a summer car hereafter because I don't want to expose it to more salt. But here you can see what keeping even somewhat up with anti-corrosion treatment can do. 33 years of winter driving on salted roads and it's still mostly intact. Not perfect but pretty good.
Worst I found so far:
I have completed many fixes and projects on this car since, will be posting them.
