The rental Mercedes Sprinter I am driving scared me the other day. Seriously hot smell like burning rubber and smoke from under the bonnet. No temp gauge to check the engine either! I guessed it was the DPF as the Insignias I had would do it as well. Says a lot for my driving style - first time in about 20,000 miles
I have never understood why it is not law that a light comes on the dash of a vehicle when it goes into regen.
This would have loads of advantages!
General state of DPF - if the vehicle keeps going into regen - when regen has finished. Why excessive fuel consumption/smoke/heat/smell.
