you really have to think and hold it hard as you insert it into the worktop

For all the routing I do (very little), I keep the machine set up on my router table. I've never really tried free-hand, with my compromised vision I think it'd be too easy to make a mistake....

As long as you know what direction to cut there ok. Think milling machines cut direction.I gave mine away, couldn't stand it.
