A mate off another forum made and gave me this. Uses a 110V transformer re-jigged as an auto transformer to give nom 340V (230+110).
He used it for ages with a 7.5HP motor and said it ran everything just fine in his shop until he got proper 3 phase.
Wire missing in the photo goes from the bfo resistor to the capacitor on the left.
I am trying to draw it out to try and make sense of it. John who made it is well maybe a bit "special".
I don't have a 7.5HP motor here but some smaller ones. Do I just wire a couple or more star connected smaller ones in parallel?
Ref the 110V trannie, not sure whether bigger is better i.e 5kVA instead of say 3kVA.
