There is only low pressure in a rocker cover. Its oil, and oil only up that far.
If your rocker is under pressure, you've got something else wrong. You should be able to remove the oil filler cap while the engine is running and only get the odd splash out of the hole, anything more is a serious problem.
From the symptoms you've given, the head has been cooked, and is letting cylinder pressure escape into the camshaft area, blowing your oil everywhere OR, as above, the vents are blocked, creating pressure.
Don't buy a Chevy horrible thingseither way the car is being offered again as part ex with a more realistic showroom tomorrow, looking at either 2012 astra 1.6i 5dr or a chevy cruze 16i
The trouble with me is I only see cars when they give problemsreally? I drove one owned by a guy in work, seemed quite nice, was an auto, seemed very smooth and comfy, one of my neighbours has one too and likes it

just service workhow often do you see 2012 astra 1.6i in the garage?
not strange they are 4/5 years younger so they charge more because they have to pay out more for a write offstrange, for some reason, when I was looking at the 2008 versions of these cars, insurance was pennies, now I am looking at 2012/2013 versions of the same cars, insurance rises by about 90 quid a year. not a massive amount a month, but doesn't make sense, these cars are harder to steal, hardly more valuable and mostly safer to drive

We had a little X-Y "robot" that put the sealant bead onto the K series heads to seal the rocker cover.
Yep, IIRC it was a Bosch SCARA unit?
I have the programme for it somewhere in my archives I suspect...

The Astra is a much "safer bet" as far as the insurance is concernedbut contrast that to the difference between my megane, valued at £1400 in decmeber by glass, compared to a 5k astra, the insurance came down for the astra, that is the same situation, the astra is higher payment for the insurer in the event of a write off and payout that the megane, yet insurance is much cheaper
