As long as it's a ratcheting one not from the pound shop they're generally okay Robotstar. Think the current pair (not to hand) are Duratool from CPC so not exactly high priced.
Conversely I find the cheapest IDC punchdown tools to work the best![]()
Mine is some yellow plastic thing I swear I got free in a cracker. Like you, made hundreds of joints with no issues.I've made off hundreds of RJ45 outlets with a CK punchdown tool and can't fault them.

Used to make an interference joint in telecoms. Your master socket and RJ45 modules have them:I had to google punch down tool (Never heard of them), turns out I've got one

Always bought Ideal Industries or ERMA crimp tools, on most of their handles you get choice of crimp jaws.
Have other specialized crimp tools from Daniels manufacturing Scary price for basic tool let alone the crimp cassettes
I also use these kind of connectors, they make life easy.

I've never seen RJ45 crimps which let you pull the wires right through... can;t quite decide if I like the idea or not...
are they much better to use ?
no problems with wires sticking through / shorting to each other later on etc. ?
