Not totally happy with cutting towards your thumb with a sharp blade

There is a ledge protrusion below where the wires protrude so the blade hits that before your thumb Well that is the theory anyway

I thought that too, I'd reach for my Super Knips but I suppose if you're doing hundreds a blade is a lot quicker, if a bit dangerous.

If you were doing hundreds you would surely learn to form the cable properly and use standard terminals rather than the ones pictured?

The lay of some wire especially round rubber sheathed Litze wire style is a nightmare even ribbon cable that require x overs can be a pain

I've had a Siemon PT-908, not the cheapest but I have done thousands of crimps with it and still good. Sometimes is not the tool but poor quality plugs that cause problems.

Thanks for all the input, I ended up with a set of Knipex crimpers which look amazingly like the ones they have in the stores at work
