As I get older I am struggling with my present Rivet tool its like an old pop rivet gun
So what are others using?
Anyone tried these?

i was using a bolt with 2 nuts for the best part of a long while, then my father bought me a similar kit to the one in the link. havent had any issues with it, but that said i dont do much in the way of rivnuts.

Thanks its something thats so handy when you need it but I also don't use them much but Couldn't have set them without Winchboys help, so time to look for a tool thats easier to use

I've got a sedley short arm nut rivet tool - two longer lever type handle, easy to use even with steel rivnuts.

I've never found much info on actual settings - if I don't strip the thread out, then it's loose

Sealy? Most I look at have short arm I suspect so they are cheaper top post?

I'd been using the Clarke rivnut tool but it failed after not much use and looking at the other brands they all seem similar quality and that's poor. https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-cht879-short-arm-hand-nut-riveter/

I've been looking at the type you put a picture of as a replacement as it couldn't be any worse but has the benefit of being more compact so easier to get into awkward areas with the arms in the way.

There are the hand operated ones like the POP PNT210 or MEMfast style or similar clones which are supposed to be quite good and don't look that hard to copy.
Or if you are doing it all day and have deep pockets there are air or cordless ones.

Funny this should come up as I was going to ask a similar question for my quest to replace my stolen tools.
I had a bluepoint one that did rivets, rivnuts and rivstuds which worked well and have since replaced it with a neilson one of the same design which is rubbish.Now looking at something decent.

Have a look on here really small company that would be able to advise the best solution I got my air tool from them over 8yrs ago and it’s still going strong so I’d imagine their other tools will be just as solid.

I'm not a fan of the drill mounted versions. Hard to hold onto for a start.
Then, they are either cheap and rubbish or the good quality ones cost about the same as the proper tool anyway.

I've got a couple of pneumatic ones that might be looking for a new home (I've gone cordless now) if you use one enough for that?

Otherwise, this ratcheting type are really easy to use compared to having to squeeze anything..

You need to check out what sizes they will cope with as some only do the bigger sizes while some only the smaller ones.

I tried something similar a while back. The issue I found was the mandrels weren't tough enough in the cheap kits. Half a dozen rivnuts done and they were either stretched or broken. I tend to use the manual ones now with the long handles cos you can get replacement mandrels quite easily (amazon)

If you were doing a lot then I suggest looking at aircraft tools, stuff designed to work consistently for decades and be consistent through the time. Not going to be cheap though. Example Rivnut tool

Many years ago I did some which were on CompAir compressor enclosures, all flat bits though. These were done in a flypress. Put the rivnut in the hole and squash it down rather than pulling them in with a thread. Does need to be set up well to get the right amount of crush but it's quick and effective.

Thats a good idea I might give it ago unless a long handled one turns up thats good quality and affordable for me as its not often used

It wasn't particularly cheap, I had a couple of reasons to buy it and why I've kept it...

I bought this one off Amazon. Used it to put in m12 rivnuts. No issues yet.
I bought this one , because it was longest arms and because it came with imperial thread rivnuts. Thought that might be handy , on old tractors, etc, to keep original thread.

Never used one but I want it to replace the long handle tong type I have
