That's the same filter mine takes and it looks the same as yours.
What's the shallow issue?
I have two burners here. One is acting up. I just bought a new pump off ebay for £70 delivered. If i can then fix the old pump ill do that, but i figured id throw money at it, and then, if the old one was fixable, id have a spare anyway.
Would you have a link to the pump you bought?

276413135201
386877792733
386874718860
(from completed items - all fairly recent, all around the £65 ish mark)
Ive not studied all of the above, so there may be oddities, but, again, the £70 (delivered) price is not uncommon.
The only seal in these pumps is the gland seal on the drive shaft, a common failure on the fuel pumps I see is the pressure regulating valve jams in the housing and then there is no output. Remove the two larger fittings, the one with the pressure adjusting screw and the one on the opposite side of the pump that has the fuel outlet pipe connected to it. The pressure regulating valve if jammed will need some pressure applied to it rather than being able to push it out freely. Cleaning the valve and the bore in the body of the fuel pump may get fuel pressure back, but not always guaranteed.A seal inside I guess.
