I remember trips to Blackburn to relatives (about 130 miles) circa early 60's
Dad serviced the car the day before and then loaded it with:
Tool box
Coveralls
Torch
A spare innertube
A spare fan belt
Tow rope
Jump Leads
Foot Pump
Set of bulbs
Ignition leads
Spare distributor arm
Spare Points
Set of spark plugs
Gallon of petrol
Gallon of water ( to refill if needed after the 100 mile radiator check)
An egg (in case radiator leaked again)
How the hell there was room for us I have no idea.
There was probably other stuff I can't remember but I do know there was one hill we had to charge at over 50mph or it was hit and miss if we got to the top or not.
An easy trip today was an expedition in those day's and what a fantastic car you had if it made it without any problems
I leave pretty much the same in the back of the disco lol
