most folk wouldnt even know what draw filing is or even done it . they probably think its putting paperwork in a cabinet
I'm planning some moderate risk activity with the wife later. Will this provide suitable protection?One huge point worth remembering.

Do it yourself, no risk then.
Regarding filing . . . when we opened our new facility, it was decided fully equipped tool boxes would be provided to all fitters, assemblers - avoid H&S issues with worn, damaged, old, home-made tools.
Contents included - files, one set - looked like a small selection of medium sized files - flat, round, half-round, triangular etc from Cromwell or similar.
Also issued - handle, file, one off.
Yep, all the H&S in the world, no knives allowed (sign a safety one out of tool stores if you need one), no own tool . . . and they issued ONE file handle . . .
I, being an annoying ****, asked the man in charge what were you supposed to do with one file handle . . .
Apparently, swap it to the file you wanted to use . . .
I pointed out the files had different sized tangs - asked if someone in an office (I sit in one too most of the time) had come up with that bright idea. Asked if the percieved saving would be worth it when they lost time from one fitter taking another to A&E with a hole in his hand . . .
For some reason, in the several year since, I've not had much communication with that guy . . .

While doing my apprenticeship were were issued files , all with separate handles and shown how to put them on .
This dick just chucked them all in a drawer handles not on , on a lathe I easily managed to shove one in my hand and out my wrist .
Only did it once !

At home, on small files for chainsaw sharpening, I use old golf balls on the ends.

You would like to think this sort of thing is unnecessary but unfortunately it is.
I worked in the food industry many years ago and despite everyone having hygiene training and knowing that it was a disciplinary offence they still got caught.
Yesterday in a pub toilet making lager and a bloke comes out of the cubicle and walks straight back in the bar.

There was a set of photos doing the rounds a few years back of a guy - well, half a guy - who was working on a lathe whilst wearing a hoodie.
He apparently leaned over, hood dropped off his shoulder and got caught in the part.
Seem to recall there was an eyeball in the swarf tray and not much left above his chest...

Some of the places I work: risk assessments and method statements galore; hard hat (or if you're lucky a bump cap), gloves, specs, boots, hi-viz, ear defenders... no food or drink on the shop floor, permits, passes, briefings... under no circumstances are you allowed to hurt yourself.

My view is that I wouldn't take a risk at work that I wouldn't take at home.
So if I was prepared to wobble on a ladder, work on live electrics etc. at home and some task could be completed by doing the same at work, I'd be happy to sign a disclaimer saying yes, I know, p*** off and let me get on with it.
On the other hand, if the boss TOLD me to go and wobble on a ladder etc., I'd probably decline.
I've been rock climbing, kayaking, worked in waterlogged gas-filled tunnels, with x-rays and radioactive materials and ridden motorcyles. I have an idea what might be risky.
Two things, though, that put the willies up me: sheet glass and chainsaws

I've been given briefings by the H&S manager about nothing in pockets, especially top pockets . . .
Bloke had a shirt top pocket full of pens, rules, spectacles . . .
Been in food container factories in Europe - all the signs to wash, dry etc . . . bog blocked, water apparently shut off . . .
Been in pet food companies in the UK, and nearly had to strip and bend-over before being allowed in!
