Reluctantly embracing Windows 10

In the past whenever I was setting up a Windows 7 machine for myself or others I would download all the available updates from Microsoft for it, install whatever software was needed and generally tweak the system until I was happy with it.
Then, using Acronis True Image I would create an image of the hard drive and store it offline for safe keeping. For convenience I would store a copy of the image on a seperate internal hard drive and whenever I felt like it I could re-image the drive from this and be back to a pristine copy of my setup in a matter of minutes.

Windows 10 phones home to Microsoft a lot more than 7 ever did.
I've installed a copy of Office '97 on a modern PC and it was literally running like greased lightning - click on an icon to open Excel and it was up and running immediately.

i have the same install everything i want sometimes even taking a screen shot of the new programs installed including on ff

then create an image save it on another hard drive if it fails 5 mins for a full install and back to a basic system again comes in handy nowadays

I had more or less the same idea - just before imaging the drive I would write a list of installed software, image creation date, etc in a text file and leave it on the desktop to be available after re-imaging.

snipping tool much easier to take a screen shot of what you have installed

another program lists all the programs you have installed on your pc take a screen shot of that much better and easier

I found 'Driver Wizard' to be a very useful piece of software - It would extract a copy of all the drivers on a machine into a standalone .exe and afterwards all you'd have to do is run it to re-install them.
