Mine is one of the last UK built models, I know that much. It's been a great gun , killed a LOT of rats and it's fair share of rabbits and wood pigeon , just annoying me now
I need more than brasso, it's just the cherry on the everything-has-stopped-working cakeYou won't need to recrown it unless the crown has been damaged. Forget that as the cause.
Stop drinking that Brasso is my advice
I did think of that to be fair , although it does seem pretty even, maybe a thou and a halfIf the crown is damaged you'll see where it got whacked with a magnifying glass and good light. Another thing is the outside of the barrel is quite often not concentric with the inside. So holding it between centres and running a DTI along it will tell you nothing really.
Been plinking with my little webley raider pcp today, and it's grouping all over the place, ran it over the chrono and its firing pretty consistent power throughout, so now in wondering if A) the barrel is bent or B) the muzzle crown is a bit snarled up and needs recutting. I'm going to run the barrel between centres on the lathe and run a dti along on the carriage, should tell me if there's anything significant going on there. If not that leaves me with re crowning . Bloke at the gunship reckons it's a 20* crown, everything else I've read States an 11* cut. Which is right and what's the best way to cut it
might just be a case of needing a good old pull through then, will try it and get back to you!Very rarely does crowning effect an airgun much. you can polish the crown with a marble or ball bearing rolling it with the palm of your hand while covered in valve grinding paste.
most likely is a change of pellets is required or as its a PCP the barrel needs a good clean then re-leading in
bent barrels will still shoot they are just hard to get a zero on and even harder to get one that conforms l+R through the trajectory curve.
Manchester air guns might be worth a call? don't know who owns it these days
Is there a screw under the plug for recharging it to hold the barrel?
I have a Theoben rapid 12 at 48fp and it's very sensitive to leaks and pelt choice. It's quite prone to distorting light weight pellets and the accuracy goes miles out.
I use the Bisley pest control pellets which seem very consistent.
