That thought did cross my mind as I was adding the gold. It's very nice but I wouldn't dare use it now.

Maybe I’ll have to get an acrylic case and turn table to display it.
I’ll get it in the Tate if I can find some formaldehyde.A couple of LEDs as uplighters/downlighters and you could have it in the National Gallery.
You’re probably not wrong. I think I’m going to get a set of soft jaws for it and just use it for light work. I’ve got plenty of other vices for when I need to beat on something.I can see child like tantrums the first time you scratch it. It is a very nice looking vice though.
It’s just a cheap gold leaf kit from eBay.Where do you source the gold?

All you do is brush the adhesive over the areas you want gold then let it set for 10 minuets and gently lay the gold over it.
Once you’ve got everything covered you use a soft brush to sweep away the excess and you’re done.
It’s a much simpler process than you’d think.
It’s finally done!
I decided to gold leaf the patent info on the left of the vice and the oil marker on the front jaw as well. I also bought some nice stainless flanged bolts to hold it down.

Signal red is the colour I used.
Rattle cans from a local hardware store.
Over primmer and a coat of filler primer.
