Recommendations for a WP20 flex head torch

Stunning every time. I doubt it's the machine. Like I say it's a personal thing and your achieving with your way which is much better than struggling with someone else's

I think Tig welding is a bit like fishing..lol Looks easy but copying someone else does not always give results you expect.

I don't understand your reaction here Andy. I'm not saying the Rtech is a bad machine but it's not £5k worth of Esab or Keppi etc.
If the Rtech was as capable as these machines for £1k then those manufacturers would be in trouble.
Richard uses high end Tig welders that will almost certainly have better arc stability characteristics and has tailored his tungsten prep to achieve the best results.
I'm not saying that it's not my lack of ability or experience but at the same time you cannot discount the Rtechs ability either.

Sorry mate its the text phenomenon... Hard to portrait in text. You will be aware of the anti R-Tech few who are vocal . I tend to make a joke when anyone mentions R-tech .....the point is you might well be correct to some degree but to be honest if people could guarantee getting results like you are with a Blue box they would be out buying one tomorrow.

I'm not sure Andy intended that?? but, we are not all aerospace, coded ,upside down, purge chamber, underwater Ti welders. The roots of this forum are (I think? DIY). And, we don't want to be.
The "lesser or lower end" TIG plants can produce the goods well enough for what we occasional or weekend welders require. And, can in fact, suffice for some production/factory repair.

There ar one or two "trolls " on here about all things, I don't think Andy is one of em. Anyway, your welding with the R Tech speaks for itself.

It's really not Matt. Your making it look good mate.
Those are the best Alu results ive seen from a beginner in a long long time. I was no where near close to that after 2 weeks of doing it.

They are stunning really. The thing is I think I might have said before although its unusual it does not surprise me with Matt. You can tell a lot about a person from his workshop.

Ironically I have "pushed" R-Tech when I thought the OP needed advice or making them aware something existed. But I feel there are enough posts straightening out the Trolls. My post was a joke and actually I had not intended it to say R-Tech was good or not. I dont have the experience of other machines or in welding per-say to actually comment on the end result. I know what is good and bad (asthetically) as to strength I dont have a clue.

Well I've only had a quick go with it but I would say yes. I had the hoses over my shoulder so between that and the flexibility I could forget about the hoses. The hump shaped handle also feels better almost holding like a pencil whereas the other torch I was holding like a fishing rod.
I think these two things will help me a lot and feels much more natural.

My lathe is turning now..lol. I got a new chuck and its less bellmouthed. Its the pillar drill I have not set up yet. ;(

You should see what matt has now after only a couple of weeks using a Tig.

I meant to take a photo of it...its awsome lovely downdraft table.
