How does Lincoln and the brands that arc34 mentioned stack up again the likes of jasic parweld esab and thermal arc

Totally depends what you expect from a welder. I've used most brands, and while I'm not a professional welder, I do tend to demand quite a bit from both my personal gear and the gear I buy/look after for work.
I've used everything from buzz boxes, cheap inverters, expensive inverters, right up to the machine that I benchmark every other stick welder against - my Miller XMT.

Miller/Kemppi/Lorch/Lincoln inverters are great, I mean really decent professional grade machines, and since I'm a bit of a gear junkie, I'll always go for the good brand names when I can - my Jasic purchase was a complete spur-of-the-moment thing that I really wished I'd waited and got a "good" brand. But for general purpose work with general purpose rods, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with the arc quality of a budget machine.

Reliability and longevity - That's generally what you'll get with a better brand, but you can't forget - they all break down sometimes

These are the Top 10 according to someone. Im fairly sure you wouldnt see any one of them in a proper workshop. However I think I saw this was the result of over 8000 reviews.

Well, you say that, but....

I'm not blessed with any form of recognition, (Prosopagnosia, they call it) so unless one of you is very much the opposite of the other in some other very obvious physical way, I wouldn't stand a chance.

Can't watch films, as you ruin it for everybody by asking who the actors are if they've changed their outfits, etc.

The shock felt when you find yourself talking with strangers in, say, a supermarket, because you didn't realise the person you were with has stopped to look at something!
The horror you feel when you realise they're as freaked out as you, and usually wondering just what the hell I was talking about for the last two aisles with a complete stranger!

Especially when you thought you were talking to someone you'd known for decades, but they're staring open-mouthed at, very possibly, something you just said, which might have been worded very differently if you'd realised you'd somehow just hooked up with a stranger, for the last few minutes!

And then not wanting to ask them "Oh, Christ! What on earth have I been saying?"

People thinking you're blanking them, because they've assumed that you'd remember the face of someone you were only talking to 5 mins ago.

I could go on, but a lot of it is quite embarassing and probably best forgotten about!
It can be hilarious at times, but equally sometimes, a right royal pain!

As regards longevity iv my thermal arc about 7-8 years has fell off a wall a bench iv kicked it by accident and it’s never faulted me . In work all my gear is 3phase kemppi except about old sip that gathers dust unless we need separate wire feed .
Running 3.2 6013 doing repairs you won’t be able to tell the difference in a kemppi and a thermal arc realistically iv run loads of welders makes and types inverter oil cooled buzz box . If it’s sitting in a workshop all the time as already said oil cooled be grand quite and a workhorse but that one time you need it outside the workshop will make you want an inverter. if it was me I’d go inverter 160amp plus but look more at who your local supplier is and if you deal with them a lot
