having this tap open will reduce the water pressure down the torch. The more you close it the more pressure the torch gets. The other end goes to the pump out going along with the outgoing to the torch linked on a T
the other plus side to using this is there will be a feed of stone cold water going into the tank so cooling efficiency should go up. That's the theory. When the pump comes back I'll let ya know.
Never made a cooler with an adjustable flow rate before but it's actually better than mine . Simply and close the tap and you can controll the pressure through the torch but this is totally safe on the pump as by applying more pressure on the torch you take the pressure off the run off pipe and vica verca. In theory you could run a 1 mtr torch or a 10 mtr torch and the pump still pushes exactly the same amount of water under the same pressure into the tank it just takes a different route.

Nice. Bargain too, was it a used one ,
Put up some pics when it's all rigged up. I suppose the next project in your spare time is a trolly to accommodate it.
Is that cooler rated ok pressure wise for an 8 mtr torch. My Fronius cooler will do it but the torch does get slightly warmer than a 4 mtr which is always stone cold. Like I say this one I've built is better than my fronius IMO as it can produce the same pressure down the torch lines no matter the length.

Would it be better even 1/2 or 3/4 the ways in purely to reduce overall size?View attachment 59309 Enclosure turned up it's a bit of a tighter fit than I hoped so the tank will be mounted on the outside some how. Makes sense really if your welder is sitting on top so you can fill it without taking the cover off. Spent another half hour this evening fitting it in.
I'll see what I can do. If I turn it round and bolt it to the back it will be quite tidy and out the way. I'll try different combinations and see what looks best. You are right though the more compact the better.Would it be better even 1/2 or 3/4 the ways in purely to reduce overall size?
seems a shame to put it outside
