It's a Goldfish. TDS from Goodwinch. Had a Warn which is now on the rear end. Load of rubbish. Would never have bought one if I had known what a pile of poo Warn winches are. It's not that they don't pull, it's the finish and durability. Mine went really rusty and I contacted Warn who sent me a parts diagram and asked me to circle the bits that went rusty. I just drew a circle around the lot. The finish peeled off, the spacer bar mount cracked, it sounded like a bag of spanners, it just to cut out for no reason. Well, it was 6 months old I suppose! They never came back. I bought a Goldfish and have had personal service from the owner right from the start AND they are half the price. Went with synthetic ropes on both though. Steel rope is just the tool of the Devil.

I'm surprised you had problems with a Warn, I used an M8000 for over 10 years doing rally recovery and only had to replace the cable when it got crushed.
Unless you are using synthetic rope it's worth fitting a roller fairlead.

But I am using synthetic rope. It says so in the post. I would not go back to wire under any circumstances. I thought I was unlucky with the Warm, but talking to others, it may be that you were particularly lucky in having a good one!
Mine was a 9500 which is basically the same as the 8000 in construction.
The TDS is just a better product and half the price. Spares are much cheaper too.

I bought my winch in late 80's same time time as a friend bought an 8274 (also no problems) so it is probably quality has fallen the same as most things?Furry Freak

Finished? Months ago Matey. Sold the truck this week! A very keen chap from Landcruiserclub.net made me an offer. He want sot preserve his showroom shiny and have something for off roading. Got the front diff locker fitted too. Just ran out of projects on it. Now looking for an 80 series to play with.
No the pcl coupling doesn't get filled with mud and anyway it's easy to clean out plus I have a little cap for it. Err that should be HAD a little cap for it. Now some other fella has it.

Sticker - I googled it. Ireland I think. Had to declare it as a show plate. Which it is of course. I never drive it on the road. It's far too valuable. Cough. Cost nearly £20 though.
Ugly? What have you been looking at? This is an 80. Unstoppable. 4.2 24 valve straight 6 full diff locks, solid axles. Mmm mmmm mmmn.

Yes I have. It's a nice day in the mud. Did it on a quad too. Really good fun. you can approach Gary directly or hang in with another club. Spondon off road have regular dates there. I shall have a look at their web site. There is always Kirton or Doncaster.
