1/ Don't.
2/ Don't.
3/ If you *really* must, then grind off all zinc coating on both sides where you are going to weld (plus a bit more) because you really do NOT want to breath zinc fumes. Unless you're tired of life (seriously - zinc fumes lead to zinc poisoning leads to an unpleasant GAMEOVER experience

To put a positive spin on my message, yes it is possible to weld galvanised steel, but should only be undertaken by those equipped with the correct safety apparatus, understand the risks involved, and can find no alternative way to avoid the risk.

Is it really so difficult to grind back the zinc on both sides as part of prep to avoid 48 hours of flu and nausea???
