"Is it acrylic?"

"Yeah, why?"

What is it they say about tradesman blaming their tools?

Seriously though, keep the edge wet, don't dilly dally and don't overbrush.

The only brush marks on my woodwork are from the gloss it's covering.

This I definitely agree with, most of it is a waste of time.

Some have resins in them which work ok but they take loads of coats and look a bit plasticky.

Been using ducksback recently, it has wax in it...don't know about long term but the water beads up and runs off currently.

We had a wasps nest in the garden ..... wife found it & disturbed it spray glue into the entrance hole sorted it in seconds

I've been using bedec hybrid paint, it doesn't go yellow but you have to work quickly or it will dry before you've finished.Their gloss is best as the satin just looks like you've primered and not bothered to top coat.
