But I know where this a 6 gang mower assembly set up.
Used to be towed behind a land rover, to mow scholl playing fields.

Was retired last year.

Beautiful bits of mechanical kit. Pity they’re left to rot.

They're usually left outside, because of the size of them - there was a set here when we moved in, Ransomes iirc. They were retired because one of the hubs had broken, not really a biggy to make a new one, but the village chief elder decided to give them away...
Anyway, they need a certain amount of speed to work well don't they? Are you sure your machine can move them fast enough?

Check the grease in the transfer box's. it goes solid and is a pain to remove.

If it is Tallow based grease any heat and it will stink.

All mowers are dismantled and washed, cleaned, reassembled. Interestingly these have ball bearings not bushes.

If they are lose in a race they look like one is missing, don't add one.

Me either but I will find uses . I plan on chewing my parents field up. They don’t know this yet but they will find out

It didn’t feel like that. That’s 2 very long days of work and I still haven’t got it fully stripped out. I need to get that bearing out still.

Meccano but bigger. And BSF too! What fun. The MG2 was used as a bomb tractor by the RAF I think. What’s the serial on it @KimB ? Be interesting to know. I think the earliest one is 1936.

It’s 1946. I checked already. I’ve noticed when the paints scratched off that it’s orange underneath. Wasn’t sure why, maybe just primer but I’ll do some research.

That thing is just about the same size as my friends rubber tracked skid steer he brought over last week.
New JD 333 model, said they now sell for $138k
So I think yours is quite the bargain.....

It’s entirely possible it’s been repainted more than once! Orange was used as a primer though and it was leaded too so watch out!

Ours are close in years.
I was speaking to Neil yesterday off the Facebook group, he’s helping me with some of the bits I need
