Workmate showed me pics of his install. He has a sparks coming round to look. I've told him to go all RCBO on the assumption he has a new board fitted.

(His missus has apparently found a local sparks based on he's fit and has tattoos )

I'm aware though of the RTS switch off in I think June 2025.

How might that affect his choice of cu?

I did offer him the guts of two boards I have here if he wanted to play Frankenboard albeit all Wylex. Should in theory fit I think. I bought them on a whim dirt cheap when plastic CUs became a dirty word:

I believe so. It's to do with the two 16A fuses on the left.

Those would be for night storage heaters.

The RCBO's would be too tall to fit in that, and may not anyway unless the newer ones still fit onto a 'Balcony' bus bar. Most don't as Wylex keep changing the bus bar style, most annoying! And why I stopped using them!!
Yes off peak is still a thing and there are a few different types offered by various supplies, they all now work from a smart meter (all new ones anyway)
The radio 4 signal has been on the cards for a number of years, the slow roll out and inadequacy of smart meters and a certain worldwide event keeps rolling the date forward.
Dual tariff boards are still available, or if there is space a double stack top peak bottom off peak, or just fit a small off peak board next to the standard rate one, there are only 2 circuits, if they are still in use!

we already know smart meters dont always work and are prone to failing

eco 7 still exists but they also try to imply the take up of a smart meter yet again

The NSB** mcbs on those modern boards of mine above, I thought will directly replace the NSB/NSC** fuses in the second picture? They have the same slotted bottom for the bus bar:

Ergo the NSBS RCBOs should fit the rail in the old board (but for the height).
