Yes I wouldn't stick then in my holeIs it worth sticking the collets in a citric bath? Or wire brush and oil?
Or leave alone ?
Nope, bought it from an English bloke over here.I seemed to have missed something! Did you buy the Bridgeport in the UK? When I bought my mill, I was looking in the UK and here in France, I stumbled upon a H Ernault Souma with an SA40 spindle, much easier to get tooling for here, (common in schools!) Did it go through customs easily?
More tools can only be a good thing eh?Now youv e opened up another money pit of tooling.
Dividing head, rotary table, few vices, maybe a tilting table.
Well, not rushing, got to get to learn how to use it first.DRO is essential.
Not so much on 3 axis but certainly on two.
More essential than motor drives I think personally.
Totally agree - even I can be an expert on milling with a DROA dro shorten the learning curve, not having to worry about backlash
It's for 1" bore cutters or slitting saws of different widths, for slitting. It has spacers for different width cutters. It has a left hand thread to secure the cutters and spacers. It has a key to drive the cutters, which usually have a 1" bore and keyway.Go on, excuse me sounding stupid, complete newbie, what's that ???
And what does it do?
Please pm me, in fact I'll pm you...It's for 1" bore cutters or slitting saws of different widths, for slitting. It has spacers for different width cutters. Well, I cleaned out the citric acid bath, refilled with hot, hot water, and citric acid and they went bathing for 3 or 4 hours, rinsed, wifies hairdyer was involved, wire brushed on the wire wheel bench grinder, then linseed oil and wax, bisch, bosch, bang, they look a damn site better.Yes I wouldn't stick then in my hole
Definitely R8 as you said. Order an er32 set ASAP.
Yep, were big on madness here...Good job there. They are 20£ each new and will serve you well until you get bored turning that drawbar and get an ER collet chuck instead.
When you got that slit saw holder and the face/Shell mill holder theres nothin stopping you and the madness can begin
Do you folks buy individual collets, or complete sets? Surely it's related to cutter needs?i have the milling head but im stripping it as i want it for the r8 head on a milling machine or thats what im planning for it
though i did get a nice metric set off of here and they still havent been used as i need to get started on the head for it
but so far thats getting to be a round to it often moment
