You will not read or see threads on positive comments on multi thousand pound machine makers putting in the effort on after sales...

My experience of EWM UK and @Jim Davey is that they went above and beyond what they had to do to get me back up and running with my second hand, 10yr old EWM Phoenix. That gave me the confidence to sink a big chunk of money (for a one man band) into purchasing a new Phoenix. I still have the 10yr old one although it doesn't get used very often but it was used last week due to my new one being round at a job.

Some are, the R-Tech MTS255S I had was identical to an Everlast model.

My info is that RTech spec and fit some of their own parts.

Well I can't say that internals were exactly the same as I have never had an Everlast.
Outward appearance and control panel was identical and obviously from the same factory.
As to whether components on the boards were the same then I would say the likelihood is that they are but...

If you check the constant in my replies. It's that they are not identical but every now an again a new member pops up and starts the discussion again.
It actually sounded like they were saying Everlast were good so RTech must be.......I was not interested. In which way the post leant....it was the false claim that prickled me.....

I have had to send three welders in for repair, two brand new and one used. All three were Millers. I still rank them as the best, they are certainly among the most expensive.

I thought it was just wives tales that from when they first started out. Why would you buy a product and then re-work it, makes no financial sense. There is also a European seller of the same products as well as Everlast. Maybe slight changes from the manufacturer is sped’d between brands but it seems there are 3 world wide suppliers of the welders manufactured for them in China, Rtech being one for the U.K.

My bit of perspective on this subject.
Francis 'Fronius TPs320i' have had a problem with the display coming up with 'Error in motor controller' and ETH motorsensor packets lost'. What happens you press the trigger to start welding, it basically put a tack down and stops. You can press the trigger again and it will do the same thing. So basically it won't weld. This had been happening for quite some time, they the Fronius people said it is the torch. So I sent the torch down and no problems found. Put the torch back on the machine, worked for about 2 weeks and problem is back. Switched to my water cooled torch and problem has gone away, well at the moment. Now that said the TPS320I should of had a software update and that hasen't been done. So you would think how hard can that be. Well not that hard but the local Fronius people have their nose out of joint and haven't turned up to do it. I had the local rep ring me and say he'll come and visit and that was 5 months ago. Mind you he is supposed to live local to me.
Now wait there's more. My Hypetherm PM125 has shown some discomfort. I have had it for about 6years and only recently discovered it has 33.7 arc hours on it, absolutely nothing. It seem to have been playing up so after about 3weeks of not getting a simple stupid answer from the mob that I bought the machine from (what should the air pressure be with a hand torch connected 7.5m in auto mode 65 amp setting) I rang Hypetherm head office in Au and spoke to the Systems engineer. He informed me that the machine should go back to the mob that sold me that machine as they provide the backup and repair support. Only if, the supplying agent can't fix the machine will the systems engineer get involved. So unhappily I sent the machine 1000km to get it looked at. They, the selling agent told me when it arrived they will look at it immediatly. Machine packed, collected by freight and on it's way, the repair selling agent send me an email 'sorry, can you please send you hand torch' the next day. Stunned, I said you sell these machine don't you have a spare torch. Answer NO! My reply I have three, do I have the entire stock for Australia?. I sent one of my hand torches. Now the machine was supposed to be back in one week as the selling agent had a suspision as to what the problem was, however the torch arrived a couple of day after being sent, so one week and they are ready to go, well so I think. I send an inquiry 'how's my machine going' get a email reply 'looking at it now' that's 10 days after it left. I also get asked the operational parameters I was using when I had the problems. I had sent the details over 10 days earlier.
All I can say is that even when you buy a Rolls Royce don't expect the Rolls Royce service, well not here, talk is cheap and you never find out what the service will be until you need it. Lets hope that we never NEED it, I needed it and got

The parts they sent out required the casing to be drilled out as it was incorrect. Was a gas solenoid valve they sent and when I called they said it was the new version so to use it and modify the rear hole

this was on the mig btw

the tig was sent back and they claim that some o rings were missing in the machine. We never had it apart, it worked then didn’t work half way through a skilled tig welder using it

For a hobby machine they will do but when I look to buy my own tig it won’t be an rtech

The Rtech 180 and 250 migs seem well sorted and reasonably priced. Tig I would look elsewhere, other options as good or better and cheaper. Just my thoughts/opinion.
