I can now see that Richard, yes your Gas Lens does sit well down and away from the end of the Ceramic. I thought that you were using the large Gas Lens and wondered if you had trouble with the Ceramic. popping off at the end.I don't know all those numbers appy they mean nothing to me. These are the parts I use.
As you can see in pic 2 my lens sits waaaay down below the cup edge. 15mm or more.
A Gas Lens should not be a problem! Thanks for all the info. Could I get a gas lens for the torch that comes with the welder? I'll probably stick to the stock stuff at the moment before I get to grips with it all.
I prefer them but it's not essential. They just give a better coverage and allow you to reduce your flow rate so they save you a bit of gas. Thanks for all the info. It is an expense and gasless mig is a lot cheaper. It's got it's uses I suppose but not many. If your just looking to slap up a few bits of scrap then gasless mig would do it. But for any decent professional work it's horrible.Hmm its an expense that I can see getting out of hand quickly though even with the savings haha! Fluxcore MIG seems a bit more appealing to the garage enthusiast hah!
