I had a abrasive cut off saw which was very noisy and the fumes off it were terrible so I got this bandsaw, it is quiet and gives a square cut, just get bi metal blades as they last longer.

What make is that band saw of yours ?

I have an Evolution 355, I think it is, TCT blade, goes through steel like soft butter, even if it sounds akin to a banshee screaming, not for long though it's so damn quick.

No Make as such but is Model B110 on above link, I've had it for about 5 years now and as said before, get a good blade and not the spare blades from that same link as they are not good quality at all, unless you get the M42 spares blades. It cuts 110 Squares and Rounds At 90deg but is reduced to about 60mm at 45deg iirc. Mine is only used for diy purposes and would not reccomend it for very heavy use, most the stuff in my album was cut with it.

Hey Sanny,
Do you have to be there when it finishes, so as to stop it carrying on and cutting through itself - or do they just realise on their own, when it's reached a certain level?
Are they the same thing as a "power hacksaw"? (not used on of them, either, mind you)
Often hear of people saying you can just leave the machine to get on with it, so sort of assumed they (bandsaws/power hacksaws) know when to stop.
I think I've always guessed they'd be prohibitively expensive, so never really researched these things at all, but they seem quite reasonably priced.

I dont know if the smaller ones have it but they usually have a small relay type thing and when finished a bar pushes on the trip switch and stops the blade.

I've had one for years, never goes wrong, blades cost nothing and last for ever, will cut through anything and no need to wear ear defenders ...ok they might be a little slow, but I've usually got all day

Seems like most people dont realise how good they are. I am having to sell mine as I am giving up my unit to spend time with my wife who is disabled. I listed my trusty donkey saw and a nu tool chop saw and the nu tool was like gold dust...........or the amount of enquirers I had would indicate. lol

I had a huge wicksteed power hacksaw, it was brilliant if you wanted to cut through an 8" solid round bar, but I didn't really need it for that and it was a frig to get it set just right for smaller stuff so I sold it. The new owner uses it to its max and is very happy with it. I sometimes miss it, it was seriously fast doing repeat cuts, I once counted, it took 12 strokes to chop 3x25 mm box! I now how a little bandsaw bought from a member here and its bliss. Does everything I need, quiet, and quick and easy to use.
