I find with pulling, it is much easier to see the puddle than with pushing. Is there an easy way to see better with pushing or how can I guarantee good penetration with pushing? What am I looking for?
remember that its the angle of the dangle that counts, what are you welding? I sometimes find moving right to left (I am right handed) allows me to keep the nozzle at the correct(ish) angle and see clearly what I am welding

If using gas, then push is how it should be done, pull for flux core. Its all about getting all factors correct, for example, I'm left handed, I'm going from L>R downhand. With correct gun tilt angles, arms to LHS of joint, move your torso over to RHS, this way you can look into joint as it is being welded, not over joint, making sure correct tilt angle, speed of travel ect. Easier to explain doing a visual than trying to typo explain......................
