I'll thank the people who thnk my daughter is somehow incapable to keep their opinions to themselves. She's buying a house and all her money is tied up in that so I am helping her with a car.

Cheers for that link, my 08 plate subaru hasn't been used for about a year so I'd been planning to get rid of it, it's not bad mechanically but does need a couple of bits to get through an mot, bodywork and wheels are getting scruffy as well, ones similar on ebay with an mot are going for £900-1000, that website offered £525 so I'm tempted to just get rid with no hassle.

They are very reliable - turn up on time - they do all the paperwork and the money always arrives within three days by BACS.

(I wonder what they do with them - how they earn from it - export I would think?)

We are clearing three to four cars a week with them of late.

I have this coming up myself shortly, not looking forward to it.

Need a towing capacity of at least 2.5 tons, for a horsebox. It will also be Mrs RnB's daily drive and she does 12K miles a year, so much as I'd like it that rules out anything with a V8.
7 seater or estate, for the dogs and occasional parties of sprogs. She doesn't want a pickup.
Budget is a 6 - 7 K. A friend of hers has a Sorento KX-2 which seems to do the job OK. Anybody heard any horror stories about these, or anything to watch out for?

I had a KX-3 for a while, capable tow car and nice enough to drive, around 23-25 per gallon towing and mid to upper 35 to 40 not towing. Try and get one with self levelling dampers but I think they may have been an extra on the KX-2 and I think they can be susceptible to either diff or transfer box issues but mine was fine. I sold it to put together a deposit on my house so didn't have it that long. There is a facebook owners group which might be worth looking through posts to get an idea.

i had a mk1 sorento (not the same i know, infact i prefer it to the newer ones) and it was bob on, even when towing *ahem* max weight.

worked that car hard, had 200k miles on it when i sold it and it is still going to this day.

My son has just returned from Norway after five years. He had to sell both his cars. If you sell a car privately in Norway you are still liable for any breakdowns for three years after the sale.
He sold them both to car dealers. Lost a lot of money but couldn't face the hassle.

Nothing wrong with helping your kids out if you can afford it, and if they aren't usually scroungers. My parents were skint but they helped us both out with car and house stuff when they could.
