Also I want something to cover the end grain where the top of the fence curves. Lead is out because of the scumbags of course. For now I'll roller on some black bituminous paint as a stop gap. Some sort of edging, ideas welcomed.

No, nor long enough. Thinking on those lines though now so cheers for that.

I know where there's some EPDM offcuts. That or maybe some torch on Solarshield cut into strips.

On my own gate I capped it with trunking lid, two pieces that met in the middle. Then I ran heavy duty, black gaffer tape over it.

It was meant to be a temporary thing until I figure a screw on steel channel with decorative finials but it's stood up surprisingly well.....did it 8 years ago!
