I suppose for example if you change an old rewireable board for a new one there could be a shed load of existing faults that will trip an RCD but wouldn't melt fuse wire, that you end up having to sort if you didnt identify first.
I'm a bit of a rebelBrown - permanent live, Black - Neutral, Grey - switched live (only because I can remember when black WAS neutral)
Pretty common place, i had a kewtech really liked it.The testing side looks quite interesting from a technical side (I know, I know) One rainy weekend i'll have a read up on it.
My pal has a Kewtech tester, it seems to do all the tests from one box.![]()

I bought the OSG and work were going to send me on an 18th edition course, but then the lockdown started and I don't think there will be much of a training budget when I go back![]()
Tbh I thought the 18th harder than the 17th. Like they were trying to catch you out with the questions. Maybe it was because I was 10 years older.
What electrical forum btw?
Was plenty of questions set with double negatives, thinking about it, that does weedle out people who probably wouldn't understand how the regs are written.
It's just a race to the bottom ending with "drive by" EICR's![]()
