i did the diode mod to my VW T4

Weird! Would be a Bosch one as standard, thick red B+ and blue +61.

Please explain in more detail. Like saying. You stood in a bucket, pulled the handle and you floated 2’ in the air.


As for GTO. I THINK it’s the same set up as the FTO.

Small module side of head. Four or five wires. Black/white in/out ign + to coils. One ground. Not sure out one to capacitor on side of head, then one to the tachometer.

Found this out about 14 years ago, non start FTO since driving under a tractor, came in as non start. Joined the two black/white. Via 10amp fuse and high ho silver away. Just no tachometer Lol

It was a few years ago, so i cant actually remember, I think i did modify the alternator, as i had the regulator to replace anyway so i had it pulled apart, I also soldered a wire onto one of the phases so i could wire in a universal rev counter

GTO has an internally IC regulated Alternator.

What you are describing sounds like the PTU?, the ignition coil driver?. GTO also as a 3 channel PTU but nothing to do with charging system.

Well I've come to the conclusion at nearly 50 I won't be drag racing the GTO again (might as well throw money straight onto the fire lol).

So slowly going back to road car trim.

Me and my daughter found all the old boot plastics (stored in the garden for past 10 years, amazing they survived!). A clean and two applications of Forever Black and they look good enough.

Bought a dedicated Class D SubWoofer amp so needed to find a place for that, managed to nestle it in the corner and cut the boot trims to suit.

Wired my front and rear speakers through the Kenwood KAC848, I was kidding myself the head unit was adequate but the more we drove around the more it niggled me.

Found a carpet on Ebay which is on it's way, chopped the original one up years ago after getting sick of moving it all the time in the shed, that was an expensive mistake but hey ho.

Pit the Pit Road M rear brace in as well (found that in the loft a few months back, forgot I'd bought it).

Normally a "miserable Sunday" for me but pulled my head out of my **** and took daughter for a drive up to The Motorist later on, then we set about the interior when we got back.

Felt a lot better for doing stuff rather than just moping around, hard to get motivated sometimes though!.

Need to tidy up the subwoofer install, next job on list after carpets.

The original owner posted that video up on the owners club, shocking really (they did 3 cars iirc?).

That 3000gt had a lot spent on it before hand, hopefully your mate can bring it back to what it was.

Was there a lot of damage?.

Guys name is Mike Hinds. My mate is from His neck of the woods (Hartlepool I think?). He’s already bought what it needs to sort it. I’ll see him in work next week and find out the gen.

Me and my daughter gave the carpet a good clean on Wednesday (came up really nice), got all the bits out today to fit it and I've been rained off ffs.

Luckily got drivers seat back in before it really started peeing it down.

Need to cut it around the roll cage, mulling over that while the rain carries on!.

Does make it more of a car with the carpet back in (sounds a bit odd!).

Got a set of fitted mats made to finish it off, they look really well made (carmats.co.uk)

Been looking for a few spares recently as the 1st Gen TT parts are becoming rare now.

The Climate display is a problem, and they rarely come up for sale. I'm going to re-cap mine (winter job).

Found this little beauty on one of the owners clubs, he really did under sell it.

Looks brand new, the screw holes / spire clips have never had a screw in them by the look of it.

Best £110 I've spent in a long while!.
